So after thinking long and hard, I decided to change the cover for Dahlia. Dahlia is the first book in the Blood Crave Series. It’s the first story I wrote. I started writing Dahlia way back years ago when I was in high school, when vampires were cool. Are vampires still cool?
Anyway, that means that Dahlia is my baby, my firstborn, my everything. Okay, that may be going a little overboard, but you know what I mean. It has a special place in my heart. Since I first started self-publishing, I think I’ve learned a bit about the writing world, I’ve learned what I like and don’t like, and to be honest, the Dahlia cover has been bothering me for a while. More like pissing me off, actually. Entering the self-publishing world, I didn’t realize how common stock images would be between self-publishing authors. But that’s to be expected when there are only so many images and it’s not in my budget to pay for custom pics, or purchase a license to solely have use of an image. And we authors tend to think alike when trying to search for that perfect image with key terms such as FANTASY, YOUNG WOMAN, and DARK.
Who’s to say that another author won’t use this photo for their next book? I can’t. But for me, I needed the change, Dahlia needed the change, and I’m okay with that. And this new cover? I love it. I even changed the synopsis because I felt it needed to be. It’s the same Dahlia but she’s got a new look which I think is more her. Can I just say that I cannot wait to order a print copy of this in matte.
Let me know what you think!
Dahlia is an introvert, hides away from others, and prefers her own company. With no recollection of her life before the age of five, the majority of her days spent in and out of orphanages, and being thrown away by foster parents who no longer want her because she’s strange, she’s had reason to be.
Fast-forward and Dahlia is living with a foster family that appears to actually want her. Things are finally normal. But that is short-lived when her past catches up with her: forgotten memories return via dreams, her new mind reading abilities, and a strange thirst for … blood? Now with the appearance of a mysterious guy who she can’t take her mind off of, and suddenly number one on a supernatural hit list, she realizes everything that’s been going on in her life is nothing compared to the fact that she’s not even human.
Dahlia, Book 1 in the BLOOD CRAVE SERIES.
To celebrate the cover change, I lowered the price of Dahlia to $0.99 for a limited time. How limited? I haven’t decided yet. So get your copy of Dahlia at its low price while you can. Check it out on Amazon or Barnes and Noble:
Dahlia isn’t the only one to receive a facelift. I’m working on revitalizing my website. I started with having my own domain, so my address is officially christinachannelle.com. Over the next while, I’m going to work on updating my site, and make it more me, author style. This will be a learning experience, so if you have any thoughts, pass them over this way.
I just want to say congrats to the Goodreads giveaway of Dealing With It and Other Stories! Your books have been packaged and mailed out. I do hope you enjoy.
I think that’s all for now. Until next time,
