Life as a new author…
Yes, I still consider myself a newbie author. Maybe I always will in this wonderful world of self-publishing.
I’m going to be honest with myself. I’ve come to the conclusion that I can’t do NaNoWriMo the correct way…at least this year.
You see, I have this little problem with working on one project at a time. The whole starting from scratch kind of threw me for a loop considering I currently have a few works in progress. So when November 1st hit, I had this bright idea of scrapping the story I had already started (Those Four Little Words sequel). I guess I didn’t factor in the fact that I liked what I had written previously and this new version…well, I didn’t particularly cared for it all that much. My mind kept going back to the original story. Like when I crave for a cup of coffee while drinking water. And not even the flavoured kind.
So right off the bat I felt I had already failed in this wonderful endeavor that is NaNoWriMo. Then I didn’t want to write at all because I was so bummed about it. This led me to devise up another plan. I’m putting my TFLW sequel on the back burner…at least for now. Hell, I’ll even ignore the urge to continue on the Reap sequel. I need to start getting a little more organized so here is my plan for the next coming months:
1) Finish Sage (Book 3 in the Blood Crave Series). This can be my new NaNoWriMo. I started this story years ago. I need to wrap it up because if this isn’t unfinished business, I don’t know what is. Dahlia’s probably writing in her journal about what an ass I’ve been, and Rowan’s been screaming in my ear all day, every day. The only person that doesn’t seem to want me to write this story is Adam, who’s been staring daggers at me. That’s scary…especially with that eye patch he has going on.
2) Work on the Dealing With It compilation print book. It’s a book I’m going to be offering for sale that will include my short stories DWI as well as Reap, Those Four Letter Words, and Fallen Tears. It’s an option for those who want my shorts all in one place.
3) Focus on TFLW sequel. In TFLW, Jade ended…happy. Isn’t that weird? Anyhow, you know that doesn’t really work in Jade’s world. Jade isn’t Jade without a little dysfunction and chaos. She has to yell at someone. You’ll get to know more about B, Jade’s brother, and new characters will be introduced as a result of the revelation she learned at the end of TFLW with the parentals. And Reed? Well, let’s just say someone’s keeping secrets.
4) Focus on Reap sequel, titled Sow. If you’ve read Reap, you’ll know that a lot of craziness happened and Sow will continue in all of that craziness. “Mia” finally knows who she is and she has to deal with the consequences of her actions. She opened up a can of worms and those little suckers have been let loose.
After that? I do have another WIP but I’m keeping that hush hush for now. At least until the above list has been accomplished.
Wish me luck.
Among other things…
Reap‘s blog tour has ended. Thank you Girls Heart Books Tour! I’m so happy with all the reviews I’ve gotten and I’m excited that many enjoyed the story. This week, I’m doing a blitz so check out my Twitter @channellewrites for where Reap is hanging out. Thanks to YA Bound Book Tours for organizing this!
