Review: American Girl on Saturn by Nikki Godwin

Life as a new author…

This is officially my first review on my blog so bear with me if I’m not following some sort of review etiquette 🙂

I was given an ARC of American Girl on Saturn by Nikki Godwin and I want to say that I was extremely lucky to be able to read this before its release at the end of this month. I had read her first book, Chasing Forever Down, so I jumped at the opportunity to read her next book. Here’s the run-down of this YA Contemporary novel:

The summer after graduation is supposed to be that first real taste of freedom – but not for eighteen-year-old Chloe Branson. Just as that breeze of freedom is making its way into her galaxy, her secret-service-agent dad drops a meteor-sized bomb of bad news on her and her sisters. An attempt has been made on the lives of Canadian boyband, Spaceships Around Saturn, during their USA tour, and the guys have to go into hiding ASAP. The only problem? In the midst of the crisis and media frenzy, their dad volunteered to hide the guys…in their house.

Six-year-old Emery is as ecstatic as any self-proclaimed Saturnite would be, but Chloe and her seventeen-year-old sister Aralie watch their summer plans crash and burn like a falling star. The SAS guys aren’t happy with the situation, either. Bad boy Jules picks fights with Aralie about everything from his Twitter followers to his laundry, and heart-throb Benji can’t escape Emery’s fangirlisms for more than three minutes.

But after the super-cute Milo kisses Chloe during a game of hide-and-seek, she finally understands what Emery means when she talks about SAS being “out of this world.” If this is what Saturn feels like, Chloe doesn’t want to come back to Earth.

So what did I think?

I loved it. 5 AMAZING stars out of 5!!!

I was practically devouring the book when I realized that if I continued at that rate it would be finished way too soon. So I had to slow it down ASAP. Below is my review on Goodreads. Didn’t want to give out too much information 🙂

My oh my, what can I say about American Girl on Saturn? I LOVE this book. Simple as that. Reading books like this is the reason YA is and always will be my favourite genre! I love Nikki’s style of writing, the ease as the story unfolds. The imagery she creates with the simplest of words. Ms. Godwin definitely has a fan for life right here. *points to self*

Who knew I’d be into boy bands. But after reading this I am a Saturnite. And they’re Canadian, yay! Oh Canada. Oh, and Noah.

J’adore Noah 🙂

All the characters were amazing. I connected with the MC, Chloe. I connected with Milo and the rest of the SAS crew. Her sisters were awesome. So many LOL moments. I just have to say that I. Love. Emery. Too cute! Most of my LOL moments included her. This book took me forever to read because I didn’t want it to end! I wanted to prolong it as much as possible.

Ms. Godwin, I’m waiting for your next book!

AGOS is to be released August 29, 2013. Add it to your to-read list. You won’t regret it 🙂

About the Author

Nikki Godwin is a Young Adult author from the southern USA. She is a city girl who can’t live without Mountain Dew, black eyeliner, Hawthorne Heights, and candles from Bath & Body Works. Among other things…

Yeah, I know. This post was supposed to be about a week ago, and it was supposed to feature an interview with the wonderful, tattooed, sexy Reed of Those Four Letter Words. My apologies. You got this awesome review instead! Reed’s been super busy and we’ve been trying to organize a time that would be best for him. He’s…got a lot going on for him right now. But stay tuned for it!

It’ll definitely be sweet.

Until next time,
