Life as a new author …
So I have an update on Rowan. I’m currently waiting in the mail for my copy which I’m super excited about. It looked beautiful online and I’m hoping the real, live version is just as beautiful. 🙂 I have to say one of the best things about self-publishing is the creative process of actually making a book. I use Adobe InDesign for my print and Kindle ebooks and it’s a Godsend, I tell you.
Mind you, there are probably alternatives to this process, but InDesign works for me. I get confused hearing acronyms like HTML or NCX. I like words that spell things, plain and simple. See my book covers below:
In case you didn’t know, Rowan will be released April 26th, 2013. It’s the next book in the Blood Crave Series with (you guessed it) Rowan as the main character. Now, she’s briefly (and I mean briefly) mentioned in Dahlia and we even get a look into her past in Fallen Tears.
I really like Rowan as a character. Although she has a similar background as Dahlia (whom I also love) being the orphaned little girl, they are completely different. Dahlia’s this introvert, prefers her own company, pretty much a innocent living in an unknown dangerous world of supernatual beings out to get her.
Rowan embraces the dangers and pretty much fits into a world of supernatual beings (although it took a lot of work on her part). While Dahlia lives with a past she can’t remember, Rowan’s past still haunts her to this day. She puts on this front of being the confident chick with an attitide but deep down inside all she wants is love, just like anybody else. And with those close to her that have left her in the past, she finds is difficult to believe in that happy ending.
And although her story starts in Fallen Tears, her story truly begins in Book 2 of the Blood Crave Series.
Now, I really like Rowan because you get to see characters from both Dahlia and Fallen Tears interact with one another. Who? Well, you’re going to have to wait and see. 🙂 Maybe as the weeks and months pass, I’ll have a spotlight of sorts of the characters of the Blood Crave Series. Some of them might not want to be interviewed, but I’ll squeeze it out of them.
PS. Do you like my new blog theme? Pink wasn’t really my colour (you’ll find out that Rowan also detests the colour) so I thought I needed a change. Also, now it showcases all my current books.
PPS. I find myself switching back and forth between American and Canadian spelling of things so don’t mind me if I spell color this way then colour that way on another post. It’s my blog, so I don’t have to be perfect, lol.
Among other things …
I just got off a long week working one of my jobs. Monday was my first day off in a long time and I’ll admit it: I practically slept the entire day away, lounged around in my bed watching my taped Big Brother Canada (yes, I still have VHS), and drank my huge TIFF mug filled of French Vanilla flavoured coffee.
Life is good.
So I’m going to relish in these next few days before I have to head back to work. And relish, I will. In an hour or so I’ll venture out into the rain to go watch Evil Dead and hope I scare myself silly. 🙂
Until next time,
